Lead can cause harm when it enter the body, in the blood stream , it can damage the red blood cells , limit the ability to carry oxygen to the organs and tissues that need it, thus causing "ANEMIA"
.. Exposure to high level of lead in a short period is called Acute Toxicity.
.. Exposure to low level of lead in a long period is called Chronic Toxicity.

LEAD CAN AFFECT THE NERVOUS SYSTEM
Lead is toxic to many organs of the body, it dangerous because it can damage the brain and peripheral nerves ( the nerve that connect the brain and spinal cord to the rest of the body).
It cause peripheral nerve damage, causes muscle weakness, problem with the sense to touch, this changes prevent nerves from transmitting message properly. Lead may disrupt the functioning of mitochondria in the brain , because mitochondria are important for energy production within a neuron. Lead affect brain including the cerebellum, cerebral cortex and hippocampus, the structure of the blood vessels in the brain may also be altered which can lead to bleeding and brain swelling
